It is DAD's birthday this saturday. Was actually planning to bring him out at night. but he has his lodge meeting. so, oh well!. most probably i'll be in jj on saturday afternoon getting him a present. XD.

Then the following week, is Mooncake festival, 中秋节, on the 14th of september. The same day. and on the SAMEDAY, mom and dad are going to macau! and they never told me anything about it. hmph! and they were always teaching about sharing. =/.


Mooncake festival..hmmm. well, in Chinese, there is a story behind every festival or special day. =]. But of cause as time passes by, stories changes and this is the version i've been hearing since small. =]


There once was an acher, Houyi. He was a mortal and fell in love with an immortal, chang'e. He wanted to be with her but the kind of heavens would not allow that to happen. After long persuading and bugging the emperor, They had a deal. There were ten suns and Houyi was asked to shoot nine down and leave one behind. And so Houyi did it. The emperor kept his promise and gave him a pill but he was only allowed to eat it one year later. So houyi hid the pill in Chang'e's jewelery box. Chang'e, out od curiousity swollen the pill and the next thing she knew she was flying out of the window to the moon. Houyi chased after her but failed so he went to the emperor and ask for another pill.But the emperor did not have the same pill, the one he gave was to fly to the sun. So he did and built a palace in the sun.

Every 15th of the full moon they will be reunited. So the the moon is bigger and brighter.

Well, so it's part of a love story. =]
